Our mission
We help international travelers plan trips with more clarity, fewer surprises, and better outcomes. Everything we publish is written to be useful to a real person who is about to leave home.
Editorial philosophy
We treat travel writing as journalism, not marketing. Our editors research destinations, walk streets, ride trains, sit at counters and read government pages so our readers don't have to. If something isn't verifiable, we don't publish it. If something changes, we update the guide.
Why this publication exists
Most travel content on the open web is one of three things: SEO farms, sponsored placements, or booking-engine landing pages. It's rarely written for the reader. IST World exists to fill the gap between short-form 'top 10' listicles and expensive guidebooks that go stale in a year.
How we research
Every destination guide begins with a checklist of primary sources: government tourism boards, transport authorities, customs and immigration pages, and - where available - the country's own English-language press. Editors then supplement with on-the-ground reporting: interviews with residents, walking assessments of neighborhoods, and repeat visits during different seasons.
Editorial independence
No advertiser, sponsor, or partner has any influence over the editorial content. Our editors do not know what advertising has been sold against their pages. Where we accept press trips, they are disclosed inline and never determine coverage - a press trip may result in a positive, neutral, or negative assessment, or no coverage at all.
Content quality standards
Every article passes through three stages: a research draft, an editor's review for structure and factual claims, and a final proof for style. Guides that touch on regulated topics - visas, customs, medical, insurance - receive an additional review against current government sources.
Fact-checking
Every specific claim in a published guide is traceable to a primary source in our internal notes. When facts change (visa rules, opening hours, prices), corrections are dated and logged on the article. We do not silently edit history.
Reader-first approach
If a piece of advice would waste your time, cost you money, or send you somewhere unsafe - we don't publish it. Simple as that. We'd rather publish fewer guides than publish guides we wouldn't send our own families toward.
An international perspective
Our editors are based across three continents, and we deliberately hire writers who cover destinations they know from the inside. Local reporting improves accuracy, and it changes what a guide finds worth including.
